06/29/2009 | N8XMS I had a lot of fun using my Elecraft KX1 from my backyard for field day 2009. Power was 2-3 watts, depending on the band and my antenna was a 40-ft wire thrown up into a tree with three 16-ft counterpoise wires laid out on the ground. I managed to make 101 non-duplicate contacts in 40 sections on 20 and 40 meters. At times it was almost impossible to punch my little QRP signal through all of the higher power QRM, especially on 40 meters.
