07/01/2009 | VA3DF Field Day 2009 was a joint effort by Eric (VE3CR) and myself.We operated 1B with battery power - actually lugged three batteries to the tent for a total of 250 AH but only had need for two of them!

We used a 135 foot doublet and also set up a five element 6 m. beam. 6 m. was open prior to the contest but we didn't get much production from 6 m. during the contest. We used my K3 and had no visitations from Murphy during the contest. Didn't find the conditions to be all that great but we still put 400 qsos in the log between Saturday and about 9:30AM Sunday which is when it started to rain and we decided to qrt. I was transporting a lot of equipment in the open box of a pick up truck and didn't want everything to get soaked.
