2009 ARRL Field Day

07/01/2009 | AB9SJ AB9SJ (Billy) and I operated from the top of Mt Withington New Mexico at about 10,000 feet elevation. It's about 40 miles Southwest of Socorro near the VLA. We ran about 10 hours on Saturday and then about two hours on Sunday before the thunder and lightning moved in and we had to shut down 6 hours early. It rained the whole time, temps were a bit chilly.
Station 1 used a 500 foot horizontal loop strung about 30 feet off the ground, fed with window line to a balanced tuner and station 2 used a 20 meter HexBeam on a 33' telescoping mast and a 40 meter Par EndFedz dipole strung N-S.

Good times! Next year we're going to find a cabin!
