07/02/2009 | N5EOC Southlake, Tx. The temperture hit 107 degrees the middle of Saturday afternoon as the members of the Northeast Tarrant Amateur Radio club operated the 2A station for Field Day. This year we operated for several hours on battery power while being charged by solar panels. The antenna high over Southlake Town Square Gazebo brought people in off the highway as well as the local strowers. A few visitors tried their hand on the GOTA station. One station stayed on Digital for the majority of the 24 hour operation, the first time the club has operated a digital station for that length of time. Conditions were not as good as other years but everyone enjoyed the day. -- KD5UJL
