First time in 30 years our club cancelled Field Day operations. I've been to everyone over the years, set-up,operate-tear down.
So, I decided to operate from home as 1D-NLI, and I had a blast.
No ticks, bugs, heat, tower raising or sunburn. Got to see how well my Ten-Tec Omni 7 does under contest conditions and poor propagation, in my opinion, better than my former rig an Orion I.
Found out my all band dipole is a great NVIS antenna due to it being low to the ground, and that 500 watts really does make a difference on SSB. I work 98% CW as a rule but just once I wanted to try SSB. No surprise here, CW is much easier on the vocal cords after several hours of calling CQ FD !
It was nice to work W1AW on FD too.
