Field Day 2009 was an SWL affair for me. I am a Merchant Marine Radio Electronics Officer currently on a Military Sealift Command ship anchored at Diego Garcia (VQ9) in the Indian Ocean. Not having any ham gear aboard meant that I was limited to using the Harris R 2368 receivers in our secure comms area. With those receivers and the big vertical antennas we have I was able to copy stations in NTX, STX, TN and many other sections both CW and SSB. Next year I hope to be home in Michigan for Field Day and participate with my friends in the Utica Shelby Emergency Communications Association (USECA). It sounded as if conditions were good and everyone had a good time. -- N8KLX
