2009 ARRL Field Day

07/06/2009 | KI4MUG This year I worked from home with 10 alkaline D cells to power my MFJ-9420. Since alkalines don't provide enough current for full power (such as it is), I worked as QRP. My 121 contacts were a personal best for my contest activities and I had a ball, except for the three hour and 25 minute cold streak without any QSOs.

20 meters was open all night, but not to the west coast. I was quite surprised that I made no California contacts. The east coast more than made up for that in number of contacts.

1E allowed me to count contacts with class D stations. Maybe next year it'll be something more elegant than flashlight batteries.
