2009 ARRL Field Day

07/12/2009 | NE7WY The Northeast Wyoming Amateur Radio Association is a three county organization. This year We held our Field Day in the city park in Upton, WY in Weston County. Special thanks to Alan Todd, W7TE, who made most of the arrangements. Setup began on Friday evening. The logging computers were linked through the router in the center of the layout, the CW station used the cantenna on one end and the SSB station used a parabolic antenna tied to the computer on the other end of the site. Thanks to Bill Torrance (N7QAX)for the computer setup and the cantenna. The GOTA station was located in the shelter in the center of the group.

Great food was provided by xyl's and gf's under the leadership of Rhea Ann Crowe (KD5HTJ). Elaine Backer (KD7TWF), Sherry Klinker (KE7ADR), Carol Kinney, Donna Underwood (K4EMR), Chris Butler (KE7ZHV) and a few others who dropped in provided great food.

Thanks to Alan Todd who coached the GOTA station. Bethany Torrance logged 55 contacts. There were several youth operators and several new and future hams.

This is the first time in years that we have not had to shut down to avoid lightning. Jim Backer (KB7TGR) operated through the night on the SSB station. It seemed as if all four generators ran all night. After about 40 contacts the digital station switched from solar power over to the generator power.

This is the best Field Day in years. 73 and thanks to all who participated--Bob Davis, WG7Y -- WG7Y
