2009 ARRL Field Day

07/29/2009 | K5BS The Tidelands Amateur Radio Society,Inc.,Operated a 1A battery powered
station on both 20 meter phone & CW. We had a solar panel to recharge
our batteries, and believe me we had no lack of sunshine here in Galveston County,Texas! The club sets the station up each year in the same location, Highlands Bayou Park in La Marque,Texas. One good thing about the park, if you get tired of operating you can walk accross the road and fish in the small lake or just cool off,Hi,Hi. We
had a 30ft manlift this year as a makeshift tower. We mounted a 20meter
dipole & a 20meter vertical and both worked out well. We made several
phone and CW contacts during the event.

The club members that participated had a great time and we had some great food too. As usual it was hot here in South Texas, but no matter
we still enjoyed Field Day.

We are all looking forward to next year!

James -- AA5OQ
