2009 ARRL August UHF Contest

08/03/2009 | N6ZE/R Peter Heins, N6ZE/7 (Western Washington Section)
Scoring: 17 QSO => 51pts times (2 grids worked + 2 grids activated) = 204 points
Club Participation: Pacific Northwest VHF Association

For this contest, I operated as a Rover from both Whidbey Island, WA grids (CN87 & CN88). I devoted about 2 hours to the contest. I used an FT857D (20 watts) + an 11 element M>2 yagi for all but 2 contacts (KQ Mini Loop for two). I was not on the air when the mountain-topping stations were active, but had fun anyway.
New excuse for low score: Undiagnosed very high antenna VSWR was caused by 1 part of folded dipole driven element only loosely fastened to center block and rest of folded dipole: repaired same on Sunday afternoon. (I wont let that happen again!) -- N6ZE
