2009 ARRL August UHF Contest

08/04/2009 | KB9KTD Sick of living in "Dead Valley" bottoms, Mississippi River Valley in
LaCrosse, WI, I set up some old scaffolding outriggers and a fence post,
(pipe). Threw my fancy DC to near daylight transceiver in (TS-2000X) and headed for the hills. I had a very big rotor, 3/4 ton truck steering, but had a nice spot to make turns. Operating as portable,
not a rover, home grid only EN43.
Made approx. 30 stations, had 3 band sweeps, 222,432 & 1296. Best Dx
was 2 grids away EN41 w/ 1.5 watts FM w/ 5 element yagi to K2DRH. 2nd best was EM39 on 432 w/ N0PB. Had a lot of fun and will probably do the same thing for the upcoming Sept. VHF contest.
Thanks to all of you that operated and hope we get more and more ops
involved in this weak signal fun.
Dave, -- KB9KTD
