2009 ARRL August UHF Contest

08/06/2009 | W0ZQ/R Each year the ARRL UHF brings us different conditions. Sometimes we are awarded with tropo and work amazing distance, sometimes its a battle just to make a few contacts out to 100 km, but most the time its somewhere inbetween. This was an inbetween year. Rovermania VI found me repeating my route from last year and activating EN44/43/33/34/35/25 and EN24 with 222 through 10GHz. Saturday started out with temperatures in the lower 60's and the wind out of the NW gusting to 30 mph .... was this really August ? Saturday night brought record low temperatures across the region, but Sunday was a beautiful MN day. As a one man rover, I stay plenty busy, but from time to time I like to stop to enjoy the scenery of the rolling hill of SE MN. Thanks to all the fixed stations and of course, the rovers of Rovermania for all the Q's. -- W0ZQ
