2009 ARRL September VHF Contest

09/16/2009 | KE4WBO Another September Vhf qso party gone by, the weatherman was wrong again this weekend and weather improved greatly after saturday morning which looked dismal for the weekend, to clear skies for the rest of the contest. The prior week to the contest we moved our new 432 array to the taller tower.
We tested the 432 yagis out on the small tower during the August uhf contest, found they played well in a box configuration , we moved everything to the taller tower with a larger and taller mastpipe.
We ran 5.7g 1296 432 222 2m 6m this contest, 5.7g is permanently mounted on the tower something new, we tried a few qso with wj9b on rainscatter, nothing heard, and with k0vxm several times, also nothing heard. Eventually we'll work the gremlins out of the new installation. Saturday's qso rate was slow through most of the day, so we hoped for a good run on Sunday morning, sure enough Sunday morning quite a few stations on from 6m -1296 , we didn't hear any stations from el94 el99 el79 el86-88, em60-90 or out of the state on tropo however, conditions were not bad.
We heard k5qe,k1whs,w2sz,k3vw? on 6m scatter all through the contest, but were not hearing me. -- KE4WBO
