2009 ARRL November Sweepstakes (CW)

It was my second year in a row of setting up at the Maple Leaf Motel in Emerson, Manitoba for the annual CW SS contest.
Last year I used a Butternut vertical which worked well but this year I wanted something a little better for my favorite band, 80 meters. I exchanged email with the motel owners and told them what I had in mind and they were okay with it so I strung a flat top, trap dipole for 40/80 meters and on 20/15/10 meters, a Hygain 12AVQ vertical as a ground plane with the feed point about 8 feet off the ground.
Last year I missed ND and MB but this year I worked my opposite-end-of-the-alphabet namesake, Rod, KE0A, only about 80 miles down the road in ND and VE4EAR in Winnepeg. I missed VI and NL so no sweep this year. -- KE0Z
