11/24/2009 | W7DK W7DK Has not been too active on the contest scene lately, so some of us have decided to put the "Mighty 'DK!" back on the air for contests, usually ARRL sponsored ones, because we go way back with the ARRL.

Our club has been continuously operating ever since it was incorporated in October 1916. We got many requests for a "fill" on the check! Most folks had a hard time when they thought that the operator was that old!

At any rate, thanks to the unflagging efforts of our hardware guru Rich KR7W, we had a fairly decent radio station to use at W7DK this year and we missed the sweep by only one section:Delaware...

W7DK was ably operated by Pat WT7N, Rich KR7W, Al N7OMS, Harry N7DOE and myself Gary WG7X. Having a YL, Pat on the air really brought in the QSO's! Thanks Pat, for being our "secret weapon"!

Still, we had a good time and the pile-ups were fairly deep at 'DK. Conditions were also pretty good, which resulted in many QSO's on fifteen meters.

We hope to do it again next year, and will we finally get the "Sweep?"
