2009 ARRL November Sweepstakes (Phone)

It has been YEARS (probably at least 35) since I entered a Sweepstakes Contest, but I decided to work a few stations on Sunday afternoon this year just to give others a few more points.
The NASCAR championship race from Homestead, FL, was on television on Sunday afternoon, and that took priority. I worked the contest during the commercials and during the racers' pit stops.
Fifteen meters was open, especially to the East Coast, so I started there. Running 90 watts to a 40-meter dipole laying on the roof, I worked 50 contacts. Another 40 contacts were divided between 20 and 40 meters, with 40 meters providing some surprising results from my low antenna. I ended up with a total of 90 stations in 44 sections. Well, what can I say? It was a beginning. Maybe next year I'll have more time to participate. Besides, I need to at least double the number of contacts next time just to save face. HI HI -- WA0KAQ
