11/29/2009 | K0JJM Someday we are going to figure out how to get a Sweep from Kansas! Thought that a Gap Titan and two dipoles (at right angles to each other) for 40 and 80 would do it. Guess not! Was very pleased that 15 was open but still have trouble working through the congestion on 40. We HEARD all the zones but couldn't catch some of them. Maybe we need to call CQ more but that has never seemed to work well with a low power station from here.

I do have one suggestion for the "rare" sections: please give us small guns a chance by calling for stations from specific call sign areas (0's only for example) and progress through the areas. I have heard several DX stations do this with great success. Those of us on low power or QRP have a hard time pushing through the din of 20 or more stations. We stand a better chance if there are only three or four. You end up with the same number of contacts and everybody is happy. -- K0JJM
