2009 ARRL 10 Meter Contest
I knew that trying to work stuff in the dark hours wouldnt be productive, but I couldnt help trying. My sidetone oscillator started getting hoarse after about 3 hours from so much use and so little results, just sending the same thing over and over and over and over. A few more hours and my wrist wasnt too happy either.
Second contact was AC7GP in WA, it was on SSB, at 2236Z 12 DEC 2009, which made it 4:36 p.m. Saturday afternoon local time.
Third contact was K5RQ in FL, on SSB, at 1641Z 13 DEC 2009. At least I was going to have more than two QSOs in the log. Things finally started to pick up at that point. Thats good as by that time I had already consumed close to a lethal dose of coffee.
The thought occurred to me before that third contact that perhaps I should check out the humor level of the ARRL by submitting a fake log containing some rather juicy made up calls and maybe tossing some planets like Pluto and Jupiter into the mix. No doubt that By Goodman, W1DX, would have loved it. The log checkers wouldnt be smiling though, I hate to think what the applied penalty would be.
Before the contest started, I asked Brad Miskimen, N5LUL, what his goals were. His response was To beat you!!!
Not a doubt in my mind that Brad is still grinning. He made something like 95 contacts to my 58. Brad, be advised, I have plans for next year. -- K5BZH
