2009 ARRL 10 Meter Contest

12/14/2009 | KX1G After a few years doing the contest as a single op, I once again did a Multi with AB1X and KG1V. We had fun, but, man, other than the fantastic band opening on Saturday night (150 Q's in 90 minutes) the lack of propagation made it painful.

A couple of suggestions for next year

1. I also want to echo another comment I saw....it seems to me to be time to break multi-op into the same group of categories as single ops, to make things fair and square.. low or high power; mixed mode, CW-only, SSB only.

2. If you restrict 28.300-28.500 to working Techs, it will force others to use the vast upper reaches of this huge band. Spreading stations out will have the benefit of reducing interference and making copy easier and more enjoyable.

3. Why not Add RTTY and FM as additional modes....restrict them to a section of the band if necessary. Also add a restriction against using the FM repeaters.

If necessary, do a trial of these next year...see how people like the changes.
