12/14/2009 | WB4QNG I thought the band conditions were some of the worst ever. I was fully prepared to spend at least 30 hours on the radio this weekend. After listening for the first 6 hours of the contest without a contact I kind of gave up on that. I did get another 10 more hours of listening time in the next two days with the same no contacts. I was resolved to the fact that I was going to send in a blank log with no contacts with a note on how many hours I was on the air. In the last hour of the contest there was an opening to Texas where I worked 9 station and a couple of South Dakota's. We have to be at very bottom of the sunspot cycle and things have to start getting better.
