01/05/2010 | AC7JW This was another fun SKN- I'm really starting to look forward to this event. Conditions weren't as good as I'd like- the high bands were pretty poor, but I made some nice QSOs on 40 and 20 with N6EV, K6GVG, KE0G, WB9HFK, K9AYB, K9WWT, and WA6RIK. Many of these QSOs were nice rag chews, and I really enjoyed them. All of these guys had very nice fists- very easy copy.
This year, I fired up the Drake twins (T-4X and R-4A), with a straight key of unknown vintage and make (e-bay special), and a new home-brew 43' vertical using a matching xfmr (80 and 160) and un-un (other bands) I built from information on AD5X's terrific web site. Thanks to the December QST article for steering me in this direction.
