01/10/2010 | K2JX Another SKN, worst band conditions possible here in the Northeast it seemed. There were plenty of stations on the 40 and 80 meter band but the QSB was rough. This year I ran my refurbed EFJ Adventurer, EFJ VFO-122, BC-348Q receiver combo. I'd decided to complete the vintage theme I would also use a vintage style antenna, a 60' inverted Marconi, aka a tuned random wire.

To key the transmitter I used one of 3, J-38 keys on my op desk. All have a different tactile feel, all exercise my right arm ! Although band conditions were poor I had a ball and according to received RST's (599C) from several op's, I've decided to add screen regulation to the tx for next year's SKN !
