2010 ARRL RTTY Roundup

01/07/2010 | K7VIT Enjoyed somewhat improved band conditions and improved my score on my 1st RTTY RU with new software. I was impressed by all the new calls which I had never worked before (and which weren't in the supercheck-partial file) that are now participating in RTTY contesting. The upward trend is unmistakable!

My biggest thrill was working P49X on 40m and being passed to 80m. With my low 80m dipole on a city lot and low power, P49X picked me out on the second call from OR. What a set of ears (and station), P49X must have!!

On a constructive note, I would encourage all those new RTTY Ops who are searching and pouncing to carefully tune the CQ-ing station so they are on frequency (with AFC, RIT, & XIT off). Also after receiving the CQ-ing station's exchange, the S&P-ing station does not need to repeat the exchange back to the station who sent it first. A simple QSL or TU will complete the "circuit" and avoid confusion.
73,
Jerry K7VIT -- K7VIT
