N1KXR/R
2010 was my first year out as a solo rover. While I stayed in Western Massachusetts (FN32), I covered the four counties driving about 175 miles. While on the road, I operated in FM mode on 2 meters and 70cm using mobile mounted antennas which were vertically polarized. At one point during the sweepstakes, I had the pleasure and learning experience of meeting up with the rover team of N1FJ/R, consisting of Frandy-N1FJ and Larry-WB1DBY. They were gracious enough to show me their set-up and share some operating tips.
Now that I have a better idea of what to expect as a roving station, coupled with what I've learned and plans to better equip my vehicle, I think Ill have a much improved score in the next VHF contest.
