WB1Z
I was very active in ham radio and the January VHF Sweepstakes contest about 15-20 years ago, and currently don't really have much of a useful setup. But I've been keeping track of the local club's mailing list, and on Thursday before the contest a message came through from KK1W that he was going to run a multi-op using the Hampden County Radio Association callsign WB1Z, and that anyone was welcome to come to his house to put in some operating time. I had the itch to do some operating, so I decided to go check it out and I brought my 12-year old son Andrew with me. We had a great time at Jim's house. I made a few contacts, and then we let Andrew give it a try. He worked a half dozen stations and was thrilled when he worked a new grid that we didn't have. It was great fun to get on the air again for what used to be my favorite contest. Thanks to the HCRA, Jim KK1W, and all of the people we worked! - Bob, NQ1C -- NQ1C
