2010 ARRL International DX Contest (CW)

02/25/2010 | ZS6BB This was my first attempt at an international CW contest. It was great fun and I enjoyed the event.

It was a steep learning curve getting used to the awesome N1MM contesting software. It sure is a great tool for logging, scoring and maintain situational awareness.

Thank you to all the stations that I managed to work with my puny signals. This is no doubt as result of some very capable and experienced CW operators out there, with very good receiving ability.

I cannot help, but wonder, if the CW average speed was held at around 20-25 WPM if the efficiency would not improve. The stations operating at breakneck speed needed so many retries that it defeats the objective?

The other observation is that some stations were using auto repeat set at such a repeat rate with almost no gaps, that it resulted in a impossibly short time for them to listen to any stations replying to their CQs.
