2010 ARRL Rookie Roundup - April (Phone)

04/25/2010 | KJ4NHI

The Rookie Roundup was lots of fun.  I have to thank veteran ham Mike, W9QO, for all his help and coaching.  The highlight of the afternoon was when Mike got real excited and started saying, "Work him, work him!"  It turns out "him" was ARRL's very own K1ZZ.  Not only was the Roundup fun, but I learned a few things in the process, such as who "him" (K1ZZ) is, and I also learned that 14.230 is the SSTV frequency!  :-)  Thanks Sean and ARRL for a fun and learning experience, and thanks to all the veteran hams and rookies with whom I made contacts!  I have received some very nice QSL cards from many of those contacts, and I am very proud to have them.

I received my Technician & General class license on July 7, 2009, and I received my Extra class license today, April 24, 2010!  My goal was to obtain my Extra within a year of my first license, and I am so excited to have met that goal today!  I am a charter member of the best club on the planet - Tri-County Amateur Radio Club, WX4TC, and many of our club members have helped me in more ways than I can count!

73,

Linda, KJ4NHI (soon to be something new!)
