2010 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/20/2010 | W5DQ

This year was completely the reverse of last year here in the Upper Mojave Desert of Southern California. Last year I made one QSO to a rover about 50 miles from my QTH. This year it was a slow start but quickly developed into sheer pandamonium.  For several parts of the opening I was working stations as fast as I could type (which isn't fast, hihi). Stations were heard for most of the contest but like I mentioned, it was a slow start. Ended up with 150 QSO's and 91 grids for the 10 or so hours I worked the contest. This year I also had up my recently installed M-Squared 6M7JHV at 40 foot and 2 weeks before the contest, I added a King 6M Conversion SB-220 amplifier to the 6M station. What a BIG difference it has made.  Now that I have the 6M station fairly well established, now to start on the 2M station next. Hopefully I'll have it in place for the Sept VHF contest.
