What an exciting contest!! Six meters was great! We added a 6 element divergent antenna 120 degrees off of the pair of 8 elememnts. We just flip a switch to get more coverage. I am sure we missed many contacts due to the band being open in all directions. Sorry guys!
The station lost 2 of the 4 X 222 MHz antennas just before the contest. We operated on one. That was quite a loss in gain for us, The station is in tornado alley! Something broke with 432 MHz. I have yet to find the problem. We did without that band .. .. Rats!!
KB0HH spent at least 6 hours during the contest weekend on the towers working on problems and not cooking! Sorry guys and gals .. .. sandwiches and donuts again!. We also added a 6' dish to 2304 MHz. The gain will be helpfull in the UHF and September contests. There was only one station on 2304 MHz that we heard.
Two Meters was fun, we had some enhancement to the NW and to the East. There were few local rovers, but, Lisa, Ke5HQR/R kept us busy working 6 local grids. A couple of locals, Bernie, K0IFR, and Ward, KC0CBV, managed to get to the 4 corner grids nearby even if there was much rain and a tornado overhead! Thanks guys and gal!
The tornado, lightning, wind, and rain were distracting. A tornado seems to scream in a radio! The ops did manage to escape the Bunkhouse Sunday evening and Monday morning through the high water!
We made a few WSJT contacts on 6 meters on Saturday evening/Sunday morning. We are getting better at that mode!
We had a Bunkhouse Cought Fish Fry on Friday evening as the ops were arriveing, some Bunkhouse Pulled Pulled Pork on Saturday evening, a big Bunkhouse Smoked Briskette on Sunday evening. Plus there were the Famous Bunkhouse Baked Beans in there somewhere. The breakfasts were Bunkhouse Breakfast Burritoes, Bunkhouse Cat Head Bisquits and Sausage Gravey, and Daylight Donuts .. .. Sorry about the donuts guys!
Pictures to follow .. .. maybe!
