06/24/2002 | K1DY This contest represented my 40th year of VHF contest mountaintopping. For the January VHF Sweepstakes in 1962, I (then K1JDY) operated K1NTC/1 from the top of mt. Agamenticus in Southern Maine with Curt, K1NTC, and Lucky, K1KOB. We had to haul all the gear up to the top on a tobaggon. The picture taken just before the "ride down" made it into June 1962 QST. This year I operated in the rover category and met Dave, K1WHS, on Mt Aggie (it's now a maintained tar road to the top!) at the start of the contest.
