I operated portable from the foothills that block signals from

my home QTH in Sylmar, CA.  This was my first time contesting portable.

I operated 6m to 23cm from the back seat of the truck.  Everything

worked perfectly! Only trouble I had were the bees.  Bees on the computer,

bees on the FT-736, bees on my amps, bees on my head!

Fortunately, my 4-H training from back in Ohio kicked in and no insects

or hams were harmed during the test. 

The generator ran all weekend without trouble. Radios and amps worked

well.  LED stick-up lights came in handy. All nighters are harder than I remember  from college.  73 de N8DEZ
