2010 ARRL Kids Day - June

06/24/2010 | AD6D

Again this year  W6ICR station allow to be operated  for the kids Day, the kids is a resource very limited in the valley and the idea is to bring the interest of the few ones to the ham radio and the activities related.

This year  2 Kids where the operators,  Luis  Alberto (my Son) and  David  KJ6ING  (lest than a month with his ticket) , Luis in his  second time in the event and  David  first time  on HF  and the SSB mode,   before that only FM on the local repeaters.

The propagation was very good  giving QSOs on  short skip on 20m  very loud,  that make it easy for the young operators get the  call and comments from the OM and YL .

As responsible of the operation  during the QSO's found  that  a lot of OM's and YL's  wants also the same,  invite and open the eyes to the kids that the radio is a great hobby that can bring a lot of friends, oportunities and  maybe an income.

Great experience for the kids  and also for me,  this time  the kids made 50 qsos,  Luis A , made 29 and David  made the others 21,  2, 20 and 40m the bands they operate.

Basic Qsl with Kids personal detail will be on the mail soon for all the contacts,  the next thursday from the  Kids Day arrive the first Qsl,  Luis A, Very happy for his First QSL and  he just  made his , will wait to get both kids qsls to put it in the mail, Tks  W6DOE for the first Qsl.
