2010 ARRL Field Day

06/29/2010 | K5BZH For Field Day 2010 I elected to work it as Class 1D from my home station. I picked up several needed states on 15 meters for a 5 Band WAS. Thanks to WY7FD I picked up Wyoming on 10 meters. A thought I would like to pass, the existing rules for Class D operation cause some awkward moments. If one Class D station answers another Class D station that is calling CQ, some stammering takes place while explaining both are Class D. I don’t have a problem with Class D having a penalty for operating at home, but how about using a multiplier as a means to modify the scoring? It also occurred to me that Classes A, B, and C might be worth a bit more than a Class E or F. Perhaps multipliers like: A, B, and C = 1.5; D =1, E = 1.3, F =1.4 Many have the viewpoint that Field Day has something for everybody. Truthfully, it just about does. Maybe some of the better “war stories” from the eyeball rag chewers should be published in QST. -- K5BZH
