2010 ARRL Field Day
The Iola Amateur Radio Club (Iola, KS) participated in Field Day on Saturday through the night into Sunday. We had a good turnout of club members and some visitors who expressed curiosity about Ham radio. It was a great time of fellowship and Ham radio remote operation. We had a bar be que on Saturday evening and fed approximately 20 people. My favorite experience of Field Day was logging for the CW operators. Being a "no code" guy, it was fascinating to watch the CW hands copy and transmit code. Also, it was a great learning experience working with the club Elmers on set up of a remote station and overcoming the obstacles encountered to work off the grid. I enjoyed working 20m and 40m phone and making contact with many stations throughout the US. I can't wait for next year's Field Day.
