2010 ARRL Field Day

07/03/2010 | W9MJL

I probably have the most unique Field Day Setup...  I've included three photos.  During Field Day and other events, I bring my entire setup which includes: Yaesu FT-897D transceiver, Palstar AT1500DT Tuner, Ameritron AL-80A amplifier, AEA PK-232MBX TNC, Dell Lattitude Laptop, BuddiPole antenna setup with enough parts for two UHF/VHF J-Poles and tripods, 134 foot Windom antenna, and about 100 feet of RG-8X cabling.  I also bring my own power.  I have a 1 KW generator that provides power for an Astron RM-35M feeding a Xantrax C-40 Charge controller.  The controller feeds two Optima Yellow Top batteries.  My entire station except the Ameritron Amp runs off the two batteries.  I do have a small Coleman 800 Watt inverter that is powered by the batteries for my personal needs at night.  I also have all of my personal needs to include, tent, water, food and sleeping supplies.  And all of this fits in my motorcycle and homebrew trailer!
