2010 ARRL Field Day
Well here we are. The four of us from Reno, NV. coming back down to the Mammoth mountain area for yet another Field day. The small group of all the members made the trip down except our one members that retired after 41 years of working at the same business and decieded to move, to of all places, Georgia, was not with us.
Everone arrived by early Friday morning. By mid after noon we had been able to push up the 6 element beam to about 20', raise the inverted V diapole to 30' and get all the power and grounds connected. Friday evening conclude with a great pork tenderloin cook on the campstove. A few good evening contacts to see how the bands and antennas were working and a good night sleep to be ready for the activities.
Operating from 7400' in the mountains must give us some advantage. We were able to contact about 3/4 of all the states even with current conditions. The four of us took turns both operating and logging to keep us fresh.
Operating this year was Larry W7AB, Don W7FD, Phil KL2P and Dale W7URL. Everone had great time operating and logging. We even were able to work our missing member Jack WA7DIA from Georgia. Look for Whiskey 7 Field Day back for more contacts next year.
