2010 ARRL Field Day

07/07/2010 | W4UCJ

The Thomasville Amateur Radio Club ran Foxtrot class again this year at the Thomas County (GA) EOC. At high tide there were 87 people present. A lot of new hams and a lot of kids got on the air to make contacts, and in a number of cases, their first contact.

The youngest getting behind the mic was 7, and the oldest was...well, we'll leave that be. A number of husband/wife and parent/child combos were operating...always great to see the whole family involved.

New equipment was tried out including two new tower trailers supporting himebrew Moxon beams for 15 and 20 meters. Several loops were also up and operational.

There were a few problems, as Murphy always visits, and heat indices in the 107 degree range made any outside work challenging.

But, as it is every year, the TARC Family came together and made this another one for the book....Mike, KE4FGF
