2010 ARRL Field Day

07/10/2010 | W9MKS

W9MKS had several Educational Activiities:

1-VE Session.

N9TJX came early to Field Day so his wife Selena can take her Tech exam.  She earned the Tech.  Attached is a picture.  Front Row N9TJX and XYL Selena who just earned her Tech. Back Row VE Team: W9TLV, K9ML, AA9VT, N9JNK and KB9EZZ.  Please note the tree - KB9EZZ brought it while running a wire antenna - amazing what 6 lb test line can do!

2-Go Box Swap.

Several hams brought their Go Boxs and we swapped them so each person had an unfamiliar radio.  K9ML won the challenge by being the first to program the 'other guy's' rig with a new frequency, offset and tone.  This is a reminder to keep a copy of the manual in your Go Box - it makes reprogramming much easier.

3-Send your name in code and earn a coloring book.

KB9EZZ worked with 6 kids under 18 to send their name in code to earn a coloring book.  I could have gotten more kids involved if only I had 10 Vintage Archie Comic Books.

4-Working with Scouts.

Two scouts visited the FD site and stated working on their Radio Merit Badge with KC9FQE.  We talked with their scout master and will meet again for JOTA in October.

For 2011 - ARRL Please make available Field Day Posters, similar to what was on the Website in 2009.  A .doc so we can print our location and contact info.  Also, please make available Amateur Radio Comic Books in quantities of 25.
