2010 ARRL 10 GHz and Up Contest

09/12/2010 | N1JEZ

I spent both days on Mt Mansfield FN34om.

Saturday was a pretty good day working the usual suspects including VE3FN, VE2JWH and VE2PIJ up North. It's nice to see activity north of the border. Best DX was WA2FGK at 444 km.

Sunday it was rain all day. I debated whether to go out, but went to Mt Mansfield again. This site is home to 5 digital TV stations. I set up inside the generator room which houses two 1.2MW generators. There are two large roll up garage doors. They face ESE-S-WSW which is where most of the activity is located.

I set my 2M liaison antenna on my Subaru using a G-450 rotor at the base. I had the rotor box next to me inside. Worked a lot of rain scatter. Signals were loud enough for SSB. KA1OJ was out travelling Interstate 89/91 and handed out quite a few contacts. Because of the rain, you had to talk rrreeaaalllll Ssslllllooooowwwww.....
