2010 ARRL June VHF Contest
The June 2010 VHF contest event was another good year with significant Sporadic-E activity occurring on both days of the weekend on Six Meters. Much of it was of the single-hop variety and the band seemed to be full of activity. I got to experiment with different antenna setups for my QRP portable operations in Long Island and found that three-element beam is still the best in hearing everything. I was glad that Six was not opened initially on Sunday morning as this allowed me to focus on Two Meters, 220 and 432 MHz for valuable mutipliers. I would say that the 2006 event was still the best with regards to Sporadic-E openings as there was a lot of two-hop activity present, however, the 2010 event is a close second for me here in FN30.
