2010 ARRL November Sweepstakes (CW)
This was the first year I operated as W2NYU, one of two callsigns of the New York University ARC. Arnold Rand (SK) was the former holder of W2NYU, and his family graciously offered to transfer the call to the NYU ARC. We applied for a second club call, went throught the vanity process, and on May 27, 2009, the call W2NYU was granted "in memoriam" to our club by the FCC. Equipment used: A Yaesu FT840 running 5W QRP to an inverted vee about 35 feet up, and a Lionel J-38 straight key - simple! The check number of "24" intrigued some folks; that's the first year the NYUARC went on the air. This year's CW SS competed with the ING New York City Marathon, where I assisted with the communications team at Mile 17. Talk about a busy ham radio weekend!
