2010 ARRL November Sweepstakes (CW)
What a privilege it is to operate W1AW during SS CW. This year a hearty trio of ARRL-affiliated staff operated from HQ: Ward N0AX, new ARRL Emergency Preparedness Manager Mike, W5MPC and myself hunkered down in the Mother Ship and put in a full-bore effort.
80 Meters was exceptional again this year; we made almost 700 QSOs on that band. Lots of stations to work there... even many QRP'ers were loud on 80. Very impressive.
Sunday afternoon we heard a couple of station from the West Coast on 10 meters, but we'd already logged them on other bands. It will certainly be exciting when we see a sustained opening on 10 during Sweepstakes again! J, VY0JA called us on 15 meters Sunday afternoon to complete our sweep. Thanks, J!
With about 10 hours to go, we realized that we had a decent shot at breaking the all-time Multioperator score in the New England Division. We just barely made it by 20 QSOs, but we'll have to see if the score holds up to log-checking.
Thanks for all the QSOs. SS CW is a really special event; I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
