2010 ARRL November Sweepstakes (CW)
Another CW Sweepstakes contest, somehow still doing S&P and using a straight key. I provided some 187 guys with a WTX contact, in many cases I would guess it was their only WTX QSO.
SS is a fun contest. My most exciting contact happened in the last minutes of the event, the exchange provided to me was 1010 Q K8MM 92 MI. Whoa baby, that was QRP and a serial number of 1010, could that be in binary? His signal was reasonably strong too, in fact as good as many running linears. A little research after SS ended and I learned that K8MM is a serious QRP operator and runs some scores most would be proud to have. Today I learned he did get a clean sweep. He is also the President of the Mad River Radio Club.
I heard a couple or three guys using cut codes in the SS exchange. I don't mind cut codes like 5NN or ENN at all for signal reports, but I tend to question their use in a SS exchange.
My WTX friend Brad, N5LUL, beat me again this year, that is two years running. I think I need to brush up on my code speed, toss the handkey, and move towards running a frequency for a couple of spurts.
