2010 ARRL 160 Meter Contest
My wedding anniversary again conflicted with the ARRL 160 Meter contest, but still managed to operate part of the contest and this was my best year yet.
Made 450 contacts and worked 69 ARRL sections plus 6 DX stations using my 53 foot vertical wire, remote controlled base loading box, 48 short radials (2500 feet total) and 100 watts using my old Kenwood TS-180s. My new remote controlled box allowed me to change resonante frequency by 35 khz on the fly, and this allowed me to move around much easier than in years past.
Early Sunday morning the band really opened up to the West Coast, and the signals out of California were amazingly strong (strongest West Coast signals I have ever heard during a 160 meter contest).
As always I can't wait until next year.
