2011 ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes
I was going to go either North to the Poconos and portable, or into the makshift shack in the backyard shed, but it was just too cold for either. I have beams for the lower 4 bands that I was going to set up in the backyard on a crank up tower. As the temperature headed south of 10 degrees F, the executive decision was made to head for the basement and use the existing omni directional antennas for the lower 4 bands that are already on the roof of the house. I made some pretty good contacts on the KU4AB dual band loop antenna and the Arrow antenna J pole for 220 MHz. For 6 meters, a 40 meter dipole tuned up nicely. I'll have the bottom 6 bands in June and maybe 2.3 and 3.4 if I really go crazy with the soldering irons. Hopefully, it will be warmer in June!
