2011 ARRL Field Day
The end of June in Florida means Field Day, summer heat, and, as usual, RAIN. A tropical downpour of several hours did little to dampen our enthusiasm. Pete (W4SEC), Ben (N6SL), and Larry (K4OZS) set up a Tarheel vertical with 28 radials and a two band dipole (40M and 20M). The 40M section was hung as a flat top with the 20M section hanging down as an inverted "V". The Elecraft K3 enabled switching antennas between the Tarheel vertical and the horizontal dipoles, which proved to work nicely as propagation changed. Many more QSOs were made than last Field Day, so all things considered, Field Day 2011 was a very enjoyable and productive event.
