2012 ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes
Our Final contest score was 10k+ mostly due to 6M E skip openings and worked 60 grids. We had to quit abt 5 PM Sunday eve while the band was still open. Too bad!!! All three antennas (~25 ft high) were fed with 100 ft lengths of RG8X coax - excess coiled up (UGH!) - probably 10 dB+ loss on 432 but at least we got some contacts... All bare foot rigs, low power, no Amps. This all got set up on Sat morning and finished putting up the 20 ft pipe with TV rotor and three antennas by 1:30 PM just before the start.
This was a pretty good run for a first time VHF contest for the club and the other three operators (Walt, Lew & Bob) and the N4BRF "November 4 Boca Raton Florida" club. They never experienced running a pile up on us from EL96 when the band opened. Our Q rate/hr was 100+ at times.
You can see some recent pictures of the N4BRF new club trailer site (less than a year old) at the web page http://www.n4brf.org/CLUB%20SITE.htm Pix at the bottom are of the new(old) tower & antenna I will help take down, move to the site and setup in about a month.
Click home on left for more info, etc. This club site is in a county parkland about 4 miles due West from my winter snowbird condo so it's really convienent for me to operate there.
