2012 ARRL Field Day
Hamilton Amateur Radio Club VE3DC Field Day 2012
The Hamilton Amateur Radio Club once again held Field Day at The Devil’s Punch Bowl on the Stoney Creek escarpment in Hamilton, Ontario Canada on June 23-24 2012.
When I arrived on Saturday morning the weather was nice and sunny and was getting hotter as we were setting up.
We ran 4A (that’s four alpha), 4 stations again this year, with a GOTA (get on the air) station which is an operator who has not been active for the last year and a 2 meter station as well. One of the regular stations doubled as an Education station as well, showing the benefits of Flex Radio on the computer. Everything went well and every one had a good time with lots of visitors coming through and asking what we were doing.
The food was very good and was done by one of our members Mother-in-law. Thank you Sue for feeding us so well.
The weather on Sunday became overcast and there was just a sprinkle shower, just as I was folding up my tent and putting it away, but nothing got really wet, so I was happy about that.
We had 62 people in total with 22 operators and helpers. I like to thank everyone that came to help set up stations and take them down as well as the operators that made Field Day a success and the member that helped me out doing The Field Day Logs so they can be sent in. We used WriteLog again this year with no problems.
I was very happy this year with the way we were set up along the edges of the Devil’s Punch Bowl and on the escarpment side leaving the center open so the public had lots of room to walk through.
Our Club had a very good Field Day and I look forward to next year as I am sure everyone in the Club does too.
