After living in apartments for a few years and doing some roving during the contests, we're now in a house here in Portland, Oregon (CN85). Being on a smallish hillside lot, I managed to put up a Cushcraft ASL670 log periodic behind the observation deck in back of the house and tried it out during the contest, netting 84 QSOs on 50, 144, 222 and 432 MHz. I'd be more competitive if there was an "all band, single antenna" category like there is for tribanders on HF.
;-) Regardless of the score, it was great fun.
My next ham project is to get up an antenna for 1.2 Gig as nobody could hear my signal on that band when I ran out to the car and fired up the mobile rig from the driveway. -- KA6T
