2002 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/14/2002 | WB5VYE/R This Rove posed some new opportunities. The Van-Gough managed the 580
miles and grids EM12,13,03,02,01,11, and 21. The laptop 'died' an
unexpected death. It was something about a data I/O error, *&%$@#.
I started a paper trail after the p/c crash, then, the atomic clock
went belly up. (that heat thing again) I put the clock in the ice
chest, but, the damage was done. Heat was definitely a factor on this
trip. Txverters were off frequency a bit. Th' Van-Gough vapor
locked in East Texas. After removing the doghouse, installing some
aluminum foil around the fuel line, I was on the rove again. It
looks as though I need to give the Gough and radio components some
care before I Rove again. While finishing th' test in em-12, the
FT-736R died. Ohwell. I think next summer, Th' 'Rove' will be further
North. What is the grid square for Alaska?
